  1. Just finished reading Creatus. I loved it! One of the best parts for me is the way you make me care about your characters. I want to pick up the phone and say "I'm here if you need me." Can't wait for the next one. Nice job!!!!

    1. Thank you, Ms. Noyes. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I love to hear that readers could feel the character's pain, as that is why we read--to feel the passion, the suspense, and even the heartache.

Working on book 2 as I write. Should be available by Christmas. :)

  2. Wonderful - I read the Creatus boxed set this weekend & can't wait for more installments. Loved the witty dialogue, engaging characters & suspense. I laughed at the antics, rooted for the Victoria/Reece couple & was carried away by the world you described. Seriously, I need to find out what happens with Jonas & Mike & the rest of these wonderful people!

    1. Thank you, Sarah! The next installment was in the works, but then I got hurt and have been down a few months. I'm still in physical therapy, but I'm able to use my right hand now, so I'm getting back to work this week. I'm hopeful that the next installment will come out this summer.

Thank you so much for not only reading, but letting me know you enjoyed. I love reading feedback and reviews from my avid-reading friends. <3

If you haven't subscribed to my newsletter at the top of the page, please do. I always let my friends know when the new release is on the way, and I always run giveaways for previous readers. I just feel y'all should have first shot.

      Cheers!

    2. Sorry to hear you were injured & hope the PT is helping. Imagine it's hard when there are all these stories in your head waiting to get out & you've no way to do that. You are very talented & I wish you a quick recovery!

    1. Thank you, Lesley! I'm so glad you enjoyed the first half of the series. As I mentioned, I've had a rough start this year, two surgeries, but I've been able to take notes via text-to-speech aps, so the next book is in the works. I truly hope to release it by the end of summer.

Thank you for reading...and letting me know that you're enjoying the story.

      :)

  4. I just got done with the creatus series and I can't wait for any others in the series. I'm glad your starting to feel better and want to say congratulations to your husband and kids! I would be so proud if I were you. Rest up so all those pent up stories can come out soon!

    1. Thank you, Heather! I'm so glad you are enjoying the series. I'm pretty well rested up finally. Now I just need to kick my butt in gear. LOL!

First up: Creatus Animus. Very excited so far, so I hope the words keep coming. There's a lot going on with the creatus population right now, so I'm trying to keep my characters calm and tell each of their stories one book at a time. They're very demanding! :)

    1. Hi, Doreen! Thank you so much for reading. Creatus Eidolon is only available on Amazon for a limited time. Sadly, the series just wasn't selling enough on Nook, so I had to offer it exclusively via Kindle Unlimited.

I'll be offering some giveaways in the next month or so, though, so if you don't have access to Kindle apps via an iPad or your computer, please sign up for my newsletter to win a copy. I usually offer paperback versions too.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope that this will help, though.

      Thank you again for reading!

    1. Thank you so much for reading AND letting me know, Crystal. As you read above, it's been a crazy year, but Creatus Animus is coming soon. The characters and I have been arguing a bit over the story, so I'm dealing with that, but it's halfway to publishing. If you haven't already, click subscribe at the top of the page. I not only let subscribers know before anyone else about a new release, but I also usually give away a bunch of free copies before a book is available to the public.

    1. Thank you, Victoria! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I just finished "writing" the other two books that the characters wouldn't stop yapping about. :) So, I'm back to working on the Creatus series.

And I agree, I think it's high time that Michael find someone. I'm thinking a cute little redhead will be right up his alley. ;)

If you haven't already, please subscribe at the top-right of the page. I'll be giving out advanced copies and running giveaways for previous readers of the Creatus series before I release the next book to the public.

Thank you again not only for reading, but letting me know. I love reading reviews and getting feedback. Helps me know where to go next, and I've heard loud and clear that everyone wants Mike! Lol!

      Have a great day.

  11. Love, love, love this series on Audible. Listen to it while I'm at work, makes the night go by so fast, I think I've listened to it three times over the last year! Will there be more in the series after Animus? Would love to know how the characters progress...

    1. Hi, Stacie! Thank you for reading--and rereading--and commenting. I'm so glad you've enjoyed the Creatus series.

And to answer your question, YES, there will be a spin-off series. You can read the first few chapters here if you like: Creatus (A New Breed)

Also, I've already been chatting with one of my favorite narrators, Marnye Young

If I get my way, Marnye will be the narrator for the new series, but also Marcio Marcio Catalano will still narrate the original voices of Derrick and Michael.

If you want me to let you know when the new release is ready, simply sign up for my newsletter here.

You don't have to worry about too much mail from me. At best, I send out an email once a month.

Thank you again for reading! I should have a date for the new release VERY soon.

      My best,

      Carmen

To prologue or not to prologue, that is the question. Readers, please weigh in!

Personally, I love prologues. They get you right into the action whether it was in the past or something exciting that is to come. But that’s exactly why most agents’ blogs I’ve read say not to use them. Paraphrasing…“If you need a prologue, then your story must not be strong enough…” Hmm … well, I like them, and I use them. But I’m curious what readers think, and I’d love you to weigh in. AND, if you have some great examples, please leave the title in the comment section. Now … here’s what I’ve noticed. Plenty of bestselling books have used them, even though they aren’t always called prologues . Same diff in my opinion. My biggest example is ‘Twilight’. If that little blurb wasn’t in the beginning, I don’t think I would have made it through the first chapter. How about movies? I don’t watch a lot. But I’ve started to notice how many have “prologues”. I also don’t have cable, but I have NetFlix, and hubby has just started watching ‘Breaking Bad’. Okay … I...

The rule of thirds: No matter what you do, someone will hate you. Get over it and Write On!

No matter what you do in life, a third of the people will love you, a third will hate you, and the rest will be indifferent. Get over it and Write On! Yes, I'm talking to myself. If you're listening, GREAT! It's good advice! Is it easy advice? Heck No! For some reason, even though that percentage is rather low on my books--the percentage of people who hate my books runs about 4.6%--it still hurts.  Note: I only averaged the 'firsts' in my books, the books I actively promote. Because if I go to the second, third, and fourth books in my series, those numbers drop drastically. Obviously, if readers don't like my first book, they don't go on to the rest of my books in a series, so those books receive little to zero one-star reviews. So...if the number of one-star reviews we receive is less than five percent--Thank God ALL of the 33 1/3% of the haters don't write reviews--why do we get so depressed when we receive a one-star review...
