As long as he had the gun on her, she’d have to be submissive. SPLIT DECISIONS

This is an excerpt for a follow up novel to the romantic-suspense bestseller, She Belongs to Me . Though there aren’t really any spoilers, you can bypass this excerpt and read more about the first book here . If you missed the first excerpts and want to read the full first chapter, click here . Excerpt: Her arms and legs ached from the position they’d been in all night, and she had to go to the bathroom something awful. When she opened her mouth to speak, nothing but a croak escaped, leaving a trail of lava in her parched throat. “Hel-lo?” Though her voice had cracked, she attempted to sound friendly. Screaming or sobbing wouldn’t do any good. Not that she had the strength or vocal cords anyway. She wasn’t in the city; only the country would be as dark as it’d been last night when her assailant brought her here. Even if she screamed her head off, no one would hear. “Please,” she tried again. “I really have to use the bathroom.” The door opened finally, the h

What kind of sicko would do such a thing? SPLIT DECISIONS #RomanticSuspense #NewRelease

This is an excerpt for a follow up novel to the romantic-suspense bestseller, She Belongs to Me . Though there aren’t really any spoilers, you can bypass this  excerpt  and read more about the first book here . Excerpt: Jaynee awoke with a start, salty tears streaming down her cheeks, burning her already chapped lips. She attempted to swallow, but didn’t have enough saliva to moisten her mouth. It’d just been a nightmare. The nightmare she used to have nightly after her father committed suicide. Though, she hadn’t had it in years. Not since Jordan had taken her away from her previous life, providing a stable home, love, and strong arms to shield her from the demons that haunted her. Unfortunately, Jordan wasn’t here, and her surroundings were all too real. Pinpricks of sunlight streaked through the corners of the shaded windows, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. The room was still dark in most spots, but she could almost make out her surroundings.

How do you take your novel? Romantic, Mysterious, Suspenseful? All of the above? Get it here

You can have romance and mystery too. I insist! I enjoy writing a 50/50 split of romance and mystery, with a smooth line of suspense threading through both. What that means is not only will the mystery be suspenseful, but so will the romance. My goal is to keep you in suspense throughout the entire novel whether I'm giving clues of who the proverbial "bad guy" is or building up the relationship between my protagonists. And to give you a sample of my writing, my publisher is offering my first romantic-suspense bestseller at only .99 cents for a limited time. According to readers,  She Belongs to Me  is a sensual and gripping read that will have you falling in love and wondering if you can trust anyone right up to the last page. "You promised nobody would ever hurt me!" SPLIT DECISIONS #8Sunday #SneakPeekSunday

For those of you who have read She Belongs to Me , you may have heard there’s a spin-off to the romantic-suspense bestseller. Though there aren’t really any spoilers, you can bypass this excerpt and read more about the first book here .  Also, if you’ve read my novels, you know that I deal with a lot of real-life scenarios, some of which we don’t like, but they still exist. I do not, however, go into any graphic detail…I simply attempt for the reader to feel the character’s thoughts—good and bad. That said, welcome to the second eight sentences of Split Decisions . If you missed last week’s excerpt, click here first . There’s a link that will bring you right back. Excerpt: The world stopped shaking for a moment, but then she felt herself soaring through the air, landing with a thud, and then the room went black. When she opened her eyes, her father ’ s arms surrounded her, warm and strong. "No one will hurt you, C.J., never again, I promise." She wante

Is there a "normal" structure when writing, or can it just be a well-written, great story?

I read a lot!  I know, I know, I’ve said that before…  I also read a lot of reviews, as I’m always curious what readers want, what they are looking for in a great book. But can I just say … the last review I read shocked me. The review was by an Indie author, reviewing another Indie author , none the less. She loved the book, said she couldn’t put it down, read the novel in one day, gave it four stars (which is great), but then went on to say how the book didn’t fall under the 'normal' structure, and if it had, she would have given it five stars. (Not that four stars isn't a great review ... it is! I'm just wondering why anyone would tell an author how to write their book.) I’ve been fighting this for years, stating that other than writing  well, why does there have to be a 'normal' structure?  Where is this rule written?  Should the same rule apply to building a house, writing a musical piece, creating a work of art? Squinting through one eye, she could see her mother ’ s face; though, it blurred as it moved. The kitchen cabinets also seemed to move up and down as if doing jumping jacks. What was happening? A deep gasp caught her attention. Her father, he ’ d come back.
