I’m not talking about writer’s block. That was a different post . What happens when you know where you’re going … know what scene you want to write next, but just don’t feel like it? Sometimes, things that happen in my personal life twist me up in knots, and I just don’t feel it. Oh, I know I should be writing. I want to write. I just can’t seem to turn off all the distractions and just do it . Well, writing a blog post about your issue is one answer. Posing the question to my writing community is one of the first things I do. Although, usually, I’ll wait for the answer to my dilemma before posting. After all, even though I asked the question that brought you here, I assume you’re here because you also want to know what to do when this happens to you. Full definition: Obsession, the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc...  An impulse that continually forces its way into consciousness, often associated with anxiety and mental illness... And, DANG ... it sure makes for good stories.  When I started writing my first book, I had no idea that the central focus would be on obsession, and not just one obsession, but several. As I wrote the second, third, fourth, and fifth, I still hadn't realized it. When I looked back at my Southern Romantic-Suspense Collection, I realized each book had something in common: obsession. Whether the antagonist obsessed over a person or money, their obsession is what fueled the story. Sometimes, in my stories, it looks as though the protagonist may be the one obsessed, but as one of my characters pointed out... Different men, different backgrounds, different lifestyles, all searching for the same thing. Of course ... when I say meet my men, I mean ... let me describe them to you.  I've always been adamant about not having men on my  book covers . To me, the best thing about reading is that my imagination builds up in my mind what I believe the leading character looks like, and my image will always be different from the readers ... one of the reasons I believe movies fall short  for  avid readers. Yes, I do have a lot of male readers, but men are visual. So...
